It has been snowing since yesterday morning.  It dumped 21 inches in 24 hours at my house.  We must have 2 feet by now… in hardly over a day.  It’s nuts.

Tessa and Logan, Lacey’s sister and brother, have been staying with us since last Thursday.  Totally fun (but beside the point).  Tessa was supposed to fly out this morning and of course the airlines give no indication that anything will be cancelled until you drive all the way to the airport, check in your bag, and start walking to your terminal.  At least that was Tessa’s experience.  Lacey and I were almost back to our house when she called us with the news.  So we turned around (grabbed some Starbucks first) and headed back to the airport.

I love driving my big blue truck in the snow.  It’s amazing in the snow… invincible.  Well, almost.  On the way back from the airport, about two blocks from our house, I decided to take them on a little alley tour for funsies.  Unfortunately, as we came to the cross street I slowed down to check for traffic and sunk down into the berm right before the street.  Doh!  The best part was that I had literally just finished reassuring Lacey that we couldn’t get stuck in the big blue snowbeast.  After an hour of digging out the tires repeatedly and making progress little by little, a guy stopped and helped me realize I wasn’t using the hub-locks quite right for the four-wheel drive.  I thought you had to lock the hubs after you got it in four-wheel drive.  I had taken it out of 4-High to put it in 4-Low, and had unlocked the hubs in the process.  My thinking was that I then needed to get the truck in 4-Low before locking the hubs.  Wrong.  I was informed that you leave the hubs locked and just move the shifter.  So anyway, once we locked the hubs I went right into 4-Low and drove right off, as I knew I would.  I simply couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t going into four wheel drive!  But I had a lot of fun digging myself out of my neighborhood offroading, it felt like the good times I had with Jeremiah and Becky last winter getting their Jeep out of Rocks of Sharon, a place outside of Spokane we went snowshoeing.  The difference is we had tow ropes and we were in the backcountry, not a city street…  But honestly it kinda feels like the backcountry out there today… I saw someone cross-country skiing down the alley just a few minutes ago so…

Fixed!

Look what I can do!  *Jumping with limbs splayed*  I fixed it!  Conveniently, it was an issue with my hosting site, 1&1.  I had to force the hosting server to use PHP 5 instead of 4 by adding a couple of lines into my .htaccess file.  That’s obvious right?  Surprisingly, a forum provided a real answer, and it was even the Gallery forum!

Lame update I know, but at least you all can start sleeping again knowing I can start posting mildly hysterical anecdotal evidence of my manly life.

Oh, and even though I’m engaged to be married to the most amazing woman in the universe, I’m still manly.

Check back for a new post with new photos soon!

Stuff is not showing up because I’ve been trying to update to the newest version of Wordpress and the Wordpress/Gallery2 plugin, which obviously is not working yet…

I installed he latest version of Wordpress, 2.5, and found that it broke the WPG2 plugin, which is the plugin that integrates Wordpress with Gallery 2.  I don’t want to go downgrade Wordpress because the developers of the WPG2 plugin are working to release a new version of it so that it works with Wordpress 2.5!  So I choose to wait for the upgraded plugin, and for now you can check out my photos here.

Lacey and I have been absolutely horrible when it comes to taking photos.

One reason is that my camera liked to flip to taking video all the time when you’re trying a take a picture.. very annoying to say the least.  But I have a new camera, the Canon SD870 IS!  So now I’m taking photos in 8 megapixels instead of 4.

Another reason is because, according to Lacey, I always pick the worst possible time to take them (like in the morning at her parents house when she’s still in her pajamas (yeah it’s like noon)).

Another reason is that we’re generally so focused on loving each other and talking that we forget!  But during my last adventure down to Austin, we took the time to snap off a few photos.

I know I know you all feel so ignored!  But I’m sure you’re used to it by now… the only real reason is that all of my free time is dedicated to this woman.  So far this is the only real picture we have of each other because all of our time together is spent just being together and talking and doing our best to ignore everything generally called normal life.  So, sorry if you feel left out but we both just don’t want to share one another very much right now!  Since this photo was taken during the first week of 2008, we’ve seen each other every 2 weeks but right now we’re on our longest hiatus of 2 1/2 weeks, coming off of our longest streak together, which was 5 days with her, 3 days apart, and then 8 days with me!  Good times with my baby!

Tonle Sap Photos

As Mitt Romney unfortunately loses the Republican nomination, I’m posting this little update.  Tonight, I finished inserting photos into one of my favorite stops on my Southeast Asia adventure, Tonle Sap in Cambodia.  Check it out, it is an amazing place.  Click here.

Daily Update

I have finished June 2005 and July 2005 for inserting photos in with my blog.  Check it out, it’s pretty sweet.  I’ve been wanting to do that since I got back from Asia but you know how life can take it’s own course.  In other news, my truck was out of commission all summer as I was working on the fuel tank.  I’ll be blogging about all that when I get to it.  But it’s up and running now and destroying the Earth and I love it!  I am having new garage doors installed tomorrow so I’ve been framing back jambs for them.  Plus of course much of my nights are taken up with talking to that girl I’m kissing in the header!

Ok fine!  So demanding!  My comeback currently consists of working on stuff you aren’t seeing, as in I’m working on the photos in my entire blog starting at the beginning..the beginning of my Southeast Asia trip…
